FLEISCHER, CHARLES HAROLD JR. (CHUCK) - of Knoxville passed away Saturday October 11, 2014. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Chuck was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Chappaqua, New York. He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Chuck was a Naval Officer stationed in Washington, D C. He was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 32 years of service. His career took him to Washington, DC, New Orleans, LA, Cocoa Beach, FL, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Oak Ridge, TN. After his retirement, he worked with Habitat for Humanity for many years. At the age of 50, he discovered running, competed in many races including finishing the Seattle Marathon. Chuck loved going to Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos games.
Chuck was active on the Charles Town Landing and Knox County Home Owners Associations. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, C. Elaine Fleischer; parents, Charles Harold Fleischer Sr and Mary O'Hara Fleischer; brother, Frank Fleischer. He is survived by his children, Stephen Fleischer and wife Elisa of Denver, Colorado, Devery Geisler and husband Mike of Birmingham, Alabama, Gene Fleischer of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael, Maghee, John Henry, Finnian, Emmett and Charlie Fleischer, Sabrina, Rachel and Lauren Geisler; brother, Steve (Regina) Fleischer of Florida; sister-in-law, Joan Fleischer of New York.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday followed by a Christian Wake service at 7:00 p.m. at the Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel. A Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Forest Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the U S Navy and the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
