He was born at Fort Hays, Kansas, on May 30, 1923, to the late Paul Brent Marquand and Pearl Marquand. Graduating from high school at the age of 15, he attended college before entering the banking business. During the war he met Adelaide Bledsoe who he married on May 21, 1945.

After the war, he and his wife Adelaide returned to Kansas where, after completing a degree in business at the University of Kansas, he reentered the finance business. He had a successful career managing finance offices and industrial savings banks in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri, in positions as local manager, regional manager, and Senior Vice President of Commerce Acceptance Company, Southwestern Finance, and Beneficial Finance. He was involved in the community through the Lions Club, was an Elder and Treasurer of Southwest Presbyterian Church, and a Boy Scout leader. After his retirement he relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was an active member of Civitans and became an avid golfer, who scored several holes-in-one. Harold and Adelaide enjoyed travelling throughout the world in their retirement. Mr. Marquand was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul Brent and Pearl Marquand, and his brothers, Carroll and Jimmy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Adelaide Marquand, a son, Brent R. Marquand and wife Karen Marquand, of Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter Janette M. Pacitti and husband Tony Pacitti, of Tellico Village, Tennessee, a son, Wesley L.
