GREGG, REV. WILLIAM ROY (BILL) - age 85, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2013 at Tennova Residential Hospice. Bill was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden. He was a Baptist minister for over forty years serving at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sunrise Baptist Church, Ramsey Heights Baptist and also served as a Methodist minister at Central United Methodist Church at Bean Station and Strawberry Plains United Methodist Church. He also retired from Capper Inc. in Knoxville.
Bill was a veteran of the U S Marine Corps, member of the Civil Air Patrol and enjoyed flying Cessna planes. He was an avid photographer. Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and was a foster parent to 43 infants. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Ann Daniels Gregg; sister, Doris Gregg Bullen. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois Cardwell Gregg; children, Dr. Wanda Mooney and husband Bob, of Knoxville, Dennis Gregg and wife Jan of St. Petersburg, FL, Gina Ford of Knoxville, Debbie Bensey and husband Richard of Knoxville, Tara Wallace and husband C. J. of Clinton; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Rob, Tanner and Drake; brother, Ronnie Gregg of Knoxville; three nephews and two grand nieces. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. on Friday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Peek and Rev. Mark Moreland officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Forest Cemetery for graveside services.
