Matthew BatesDied: September 23, 2012Matthew Bates, 19, died on September 23, 2012. He was a 2011 graduate of Farragut High School, and was attending Pellissippi State Community College. Matthew will be remembered by everyone who knew him as an exceptional young man who reached out to everyone with a brilliant smile and helpful nature. His kind, quiet spirit left an impact wherever he went. He was a great son, brother, athlete, and friend. Matthew leaves behind his father, Martin Bates; mother, Lynn Blackledge Bates; and sister, Sarah Bates; grandparents Ray and Flo Bates; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and oodles of fantastic friends. Matthew's family will receive friends at Church Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with service at 12 noon. Burial will follow immediately at Pleasant Forest Cemetery on Concord Road. A special fund has been created at Church Street United Methodist in Matthew Bates' name for counseling of young adults. |
