Bobby D. Yates, age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away at Parkwest Medical Center on October 26, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bobby was a member of Rutledge United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Bobby and his wife, Nancy, started Yates Construction Company in 1972. Bobby is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; parents, John Ernest and Etna Dykes Yates; brothers, Joe and Charles Yates; sister, Peggy Yates Godwin. He is survived by his children and spouses, John and Doris Ann Yates, of Rutledge, Betsy and Allen Segraves, of Farragut, Teddy and Kristi Yates, of Lenoir City; granddaughters, Katie Segraves, Taylor and Kinsley Yates; sisters, Betty Rose Yates and Margaret Cofer; brother, Richard Yates; several nieces and nephews; and loving friend, Rosemary Miller.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m., on Saturday, with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00 p.m., at Concord United Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Trotter and Rev. Brent Hall officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, at Pleasant Forest Cemetery, for graveside services, with Rev. Sam Loy officiating. Nephews, Stanley, Jim, Jay, David and Rodney Yates, and John Smith, Richard Duisen and Robert Moneymaker will serve as pallbearers. Ben Boring, John Marius, Hugh and Charlie Butler will serve as honorary pall bearers.
