Died: February 26, 2015

 

William Konrad Buhler age 96, of Farragut, TN, formerly of River Edge, New Jersey, passed away February 26, 2015. Bill was extremely devoted to his wife Ruth whom together on earth formed a fairy-tale partnership built on generosity, faith, and love. Bill worked the floor on Wall Street in the late 30's. He served in the military stationed in Foggia, Italy, flew 29 missions in the European Theater in WWII earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, and rose to Lt. Colonel in the Air Force in the 40's. After the war, Bill settled in New Jersey raising his family, gardening, hiking, swimming, skiing, square dancing with the Ramapo Squares, performing comedy routines with Faith Lutheran Friends, and building and perfecting the family cabin on Culver Lake in Branchville, NJ in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Bill loved caring for cats and birds. He was an avid environmentalist, humanitarian and optimist. Bill always worked hard at every project he took on and fought tirelessly to simply do what was right. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Helene Buhler. Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Buhler; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jeff Christian; grandchildren, David and Christine Buhler, Sean and Samantha Buhler, Kelly and Brad Meyers, and Whitney and Rex Dockery; great grandchildren, Mitchell, Evan, Olivia and Lexie Buhler, Jude Dockery and Griffin Meyers; sister, Susan Larsen, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. The Rev. Paige Buchholz will officiate. Family Graveside Services will follow at Pleasant Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CADES c/o Concord United Methodist Church.
