Fought in the Revolutionary War at Kings Mountain with Colonial John Sevier's regiment. Co-founder and builder of Campbell Station in Knox County, TN. He descends from Alexander Campbell, Inverary, Arghishire, Scotland.

In memory of David and Nancy Steel Campbell who with two brothers emigrated from Virginia and built the Fort and were founders of Campbell Station. Died in 1815. Was grantor of this tract of land for church and cemetery in the year 1800.
