Guadalupe (Lupe) Moreno Sanchez shocked her family by unexpectedly leaving them at the young age of 74 on August 16, 2021. She will now be receiving her personalized address labels in heaven. She leaves behind her devoted and far more organized husband of 49 years, Santiago Sanchez; daughters, Patricia Sanchez Lee (Richard), Samantha Sanchez (Vin Diesel), and Vanessa Sanchez-Pood (Kenneth). She also leaves behind seven beloved and spoiled grandchildren, Coraline and Sebastian Lee, Stephen and Sabrina Wooden, and Elliott, Miranda, and Adriana Pood. Lupe loved nothing more than loading them up with sugary treats and sending them home to their unsuspecting parents with eyes as glazed as a warm donut. She reveled in exacting her long-awaited, well-earned revenge on her daughters. She had many friends who also loved her, including several whom she treated like her own children, complete with being grounded
She loved her family both near and far. She is also survived by her sister, Bea Moreno (Louis Castro) and niece Rocky; brother Anselmo "JR" Moreno and nieces, Ivy, Chessy, and Malissa; sister-in-law, Monse Torres and nieces, Shirley, Linda, and Maria; sister- and brother-in-law, Aida and Pedro Sanchez and nephews, Pete, Richard, and Mikey; cousin, Carmelita Rios; cousin, Calile Pagan; cousin, Sixto Pagan; Flora Torres; Tamara Davis; and Craig Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her mother, renowned kleptomaniac, Gertrude Trujillo; father, Anselmo Moreno; brother, Jose "Cuzi" Torres; and countless adored pets. She was the crazy glue that held the family together, ruling with an iron slipper (chancleta) and the occasional belt, leaving her daughters with wonderfully scary childhood memories, second only to their love of horror movies, which she'd gently nurtured. She taught her daughters that you showed loved by overfeeding family and friends. She had a laugh that could be heard a mile away, which also doubled as a duck call. She did a perfect impression of a stuffed turkey. She loved going to the movies every week with her husband. She loved watching inappropriate movies with the grandkids; the more shark heads, the better. She loved science fiction and fantasy in books and movies. She had a voracious love of reading. She passed on the time-honored Puerto Rican tradition of smothering your children with Vicks VapoRub for even the mildest malady. We know she has reunited with her beloved mother, and no doubt finally gotten her $80 back. Countless beloved cats and dogs also awaited her arrival and will love on her for eternity. Family will receive friends 10am-12noon Saturday at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with a short prayer service to follow. Burial will be at Pleasant Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her name to the ASPCA, and that you feed your loved ones good food. Lots of it.
