John Smith

BORN: November 23, 1949 DIED: December 31, 2017

John Russell (Johnny) Smith, age 68, of Concord passed away early Sunday morning, December 31, 2017 at Turkey Creek Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Johnny loved to work in his garden, fish on Tellico Lake, and read and study the bible. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Johnny is retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the U S Army serving in Germany.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Smith and Barbara Lynn Goodman Smith; grandparents, Spencer and Annie Smith, Etter and Neta Goodman.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathryn Broyles Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Smith and J C Ball; beloved grandson, Garrett Smith Ball; step grandchildren, Kayla and Braden Ball;sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Alvin (Jim) Holloway; countless cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Thursday followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel Dave Russell and Lee Starr officiating.

Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Friday at Pleasant Forest Cemetery for graveside services.

Serving as pall bearers; Sam Guinn, Richard Duisen, Ralph Henry, Billy Hudson, John Roberts and Jim Huffaker. Serving as honorary pall bearers; Ron Moore, Dennis Barsness, Bobby Horton, Gene Holloway, James Holloway, Harvey Young, Gary Ellis and Joe Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local charity of choice. The family would like to give special thanks to Tennessee Cancer Specialists Chemo Department and the nurses at Turkey Creek Medical Center 2 West for their kindness and caring.
