Paul Andrew Fowler, age 88, of Knoxville passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 29, 2024, with his family by his side. Paul was born at The Rock, Georgia on May 29, 1935, to J.O. Fowler and Hattie Grace Nix Fowler. Paul was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church of Concord. He also was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1958 to 1962. Paul was the proud owner of Appalachia Business Communications Corp. for 33 years; he liked to be known as a salesman. Paul was long-time member of the Rotary Club of Bearden; he was a firm believer in the 4-Way Test. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Paul was an avid golfer; he was instrumental in chairing several charity golf tournaments in Knoxville and scored two holes-in-one at the age of 88. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sarah Hardison (Max), and Susan Goines (Henry). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Fowler, son Lisle Shepherd Fowler, daughter, Nancy Grace Penland, granddaughters, Alexandra Brooke Noriega (Andy), Ashley Paige Penland and great-grandsons, Daniel Lynn Noriega, and Mateo Alexander Noriega. He is also survived by nieces Gloria Hamler (Paul), and Susan Bagley (Jeff), nephews, James, David, and Steven Goines. A service honoring and remembering Paul will be held, Thursday, February 1st, 2024, at 5:30 PM at First Baptist Concord. The family will receive friends 4:30- 5:30 PM prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at 11:00 AM, in the Pleasant Forest Cemetery, Farragut. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sonshine Ministries of First Baptist Church of Concord.
