Robert Stone (James Robert Stone in census and WWI draft registration) was born February 19, 1900, to William and Mayme Stone. Both parents were born in Tennessee.
In 1910, he was 10 years old and had four brothers and sisters: Effie B., 12; Angeline E.I., 7 (named after her paternal grandmother); William H., 4; and Virgie M.L., 1 year and 9 months. His father was working in a rock quarry and his mother was a housewife. In this census he is listed as James Stone.
In 1940, Robert (name used in census), age 40, is living with Mamie Floyd, now a widow, and Minnie Stone. Robert is working on a poultry farm, and Mamie and Minnie are working for private families. They live on East Church Street in Knoxville.
It is noted that at different times on the census and other documents Mr. Stone is listed as James Stone, James Robert Stone, and Robert J. Stone. Additional searches should include these variations.
